For the first time this year, the North Carolina Supreme Court heard oral arguments in an abuse/neglect/dependency case. On April 16, 2025, Annick Lenoir-Peek, Deputy Parent Defender, argued before the NC Supreme Court in In re L.C. , an appeal of an adjudication and disposition order. Appearing on behalf of her client, the child’s mother, Annick argued that the NC Court of Appeals’ decision to vacate and remand the adjudication order should be upheld by the NC Supreme Court.
